Safety and fun are the primary objectives of a day with Chicane.

We work hard to maintain safety during our events by providing riders with high quality instruction, trained track management staff and medical support at every event.

We require that you do your part as a participant as well. To the right you will see some links regarding different aspects of our safety program and your part in them. Please be sure to click each link and know the requirements for participation.

Rider Requirements:

The rider needs to prove that they have had on-track rider education in the last three years. Items that qualify inculude:

-A Race License from a recognized race organization (MRA, WERA, CRA, CMRA, AMA etc)

-A Certificate of Completion from a recognized trackday training organization (Chicane, Vanmar, Keith Code, Pridmore, Apex, HPR)

If a rider does not have, or cannot prove that they have had, rider training in the last three years we will have instructors on site at all of our events (unless otherwise noted on the registration for that event) to cover this portion. You will get a certificate from our organization that will be good at my events, HPR open days and Apex days at Miller. This instruction takes 1/2 day, but comes at no additional charge to you.

If you are riding at a track for the first time with us, but have previous rider training we ask that you take 2 orientation laps with one of our instructors to learn the basic layout of the course.

Bike Requirements:

Chicane Trackdays does a light technical inspection of EVERY bike that goes out on the track. This includes our instructors and employees bikes as well as every participant bike. We do this because even the most skilled mechanic can miss something that could become a safety hazard. Here are the main points our inspector will be looking for:

The bike should be of sporting design - Cruisers / Large Touring bikes really aren't suited to the types of events we run.

Bike should be in good mechanical condition - no leaks (including fork seals) and put together in a workman like fashion

All coolant is to be drained and replaced with straight water or water with water wetter

Tires should have at least 50% tread remaining

Brake pads should have at least 50% lining remaining

All lights disconnected and taped over

Mirrors removed (advanced group) or folded back and taped over (beginner / intermediate groups)

Attire Requirements:

Full coverage riding gear is required:

Textile 2 PC suits that zip together all the way around at the waist will be permitted in the beginner group only.

Intermediate and advanced groups require all leather one or two piece suits that zip together all the way around

All riders are required to wear a back protector

A full face helmet made in the last 5 years

Motorcycle specific boots that extend above the ankles

Motorcycle specific gloves that have hard (plastic or fiber) armor over the knuckles and extend beyond the wrist.

Track Safety:

All Chicane Trackdays events are staffed with an ALS (advanced life support) ambulance and a trained corner staff. We are proud to partner with Western Ambulance, the same company that takes care of MRA races. Their crews are well versed in the specific needs of motorcycle events and bring the highest degree of professionalism.

Our crew is connected by 2-way radio on dedicated frequencies throughout the event. We run a riders safety meeting before the track goes hot in the morning and in the afternoon after lunch to identify any areas of concern.
